BC mentioned on the show this week that perhaps Compubox could show what they had DURING the bout and then release their OFFICIAL figures AFTER the bout once they've watched the bout over again.
I wonder if the reason they don't do that is because they find that the figures don't always match up?

Again...EVEN if their numbers matched up...does that make it correct? In other words...if CB Counter#1 scored the red corner and Counter #2 scored the Blue..... live and then AFTER the fight they both scored it again and it was close....does that make it fact? The same people are scoring it, right? That means the accuracy % is based on THEIR view of the fight...or in this case if a punch was thrown...if it was landed and what type. Again the question is...does that make if right and based on your answer.....it would give us a real accuracy %. All CB is saying with how accurate they are is that THEIR counters will accurately score the fight the same way.
That may be great for them...but I can't say I agree unless I watched the counter at work...so in a nutshell....CompuBox is Opinion based. Really...case closed. Whether you agree on how good their counters are...that is not part of the issue. The issue is...are the stats, or should the stats, be considered fact....and the answer has to be no because the numbers that are being calculated......are based on opinion.

Of course Compubox isnt 100% accurate or fact but it does give a good idea of what happened each round or fight. I would guess they are at least 90% accurate. I think they are a good addition to telecast and help the viewers.

I agree that its a fun thing...but it is STILL based on opinion and I do NOT think they are 90%! All I know is this....if a jab KO's a fighter...they record it as a jab and NOT a power punch. A jab that is used to set up a power punch is a jab by def....however, if a fighter puts power behind it...enough to drop or even KO his foe...than, IMO...its a power shot.

Well not sure when the last time I saw a jab KO a fighter think it was in UFC. Anyway , dont think its as bad as your making it out to be.

Vitali ko'd Herbie Hide with a jab. Okay thats a good example but only one out of hundreds of fights each month. I cant think of any of hand in past 5 years. I'm sure there have been a few but enough to be a factor.

Erik...there have been MANY Bro! AND that would be in boxing...not MMA. Really because you still haven't mentioned any? Like me saying there have been alot of fan mans flying into the ring bro So 99.87 of all jabs are not power punches. This doesn't effect our discussion.

WOW, Audley Harrison only threw one punch, but he did manage to take 50 in reply before going down. That guy makes Audley look genuinely good.

No come on...Erik doesn't think that a Jab can KO you! There was one Erik. Sorry to disagree, but CompuStats....are no where near perfect...or even as accurate as "they" say. I would almost agree with the majority of the voters who picked 50%...I thought 60, but all in all, its a toy.

But its highly unlikely and happens probably 1 out of 300 to 500 fights. Maybe less frequent than that.
