As you know, I can't get online before 6:30 AM (Eastern), and I couldn't get Mondays archived show to download off of YouTube, what did you say about that one, BC? So far all I've seen is that it's slated for Las Vegas, any news about how might be fighting?

No fighters as of today...just the "special" FNF date on a Thursday...which to me is VERY funny! Do they end up with 25 FNF shows?

BC- Not sure how many they ended up doing, they took a LOT of weeks off, including my favorite the second week they were back on the air What was amazing is they seemed to do fewer cards but maintaining the quality still seemed to be a problem. FNF 2012 was not their best, that's for sure.

Its a joke really....they should not really call it a series...its more like a SPECIAL when they DO have it!

Its a joke really....they should not really call it a series...its more like a SPECIAL when they DO have it! Agreed, the period in the fall when they call it quits keeps getting moved forward, this year it's Aug 17th and the number of off-weeks seems to have increased. It's impossible to get a read on what ESPN thinks of Boxing, they seem to want to try to maintain a presence but it seems to more about just being a vehicle for Fat Dan and others to discuss the big fights, and not their own product.

I honestly think they will bail on boxing soon. They just are not willing to bring in the right people to do it...not only for the broadcast, but the website too.
Dan is a great writer and reporter...but he really is not a boxing guy. He has no clue about the nuts and bolts of the sport.
Teddy is a great boxing guy...but I think he has gone stale.
You need a navigation system to find boxing on ESPN's website....you can find Bull riding easier!
EVEN if they don't want to part with the Dan's and Teddys....they should be adding new blood and make the show about....boxing....and not the BS they do. They also need to ensure that the bouts they bring are quality AND they need to cover it for 12 months out of the year. They should have between 40 and 50 shows per year.
I fear that they will bail soon and NBC sports will pick up the slack, which is good AND bad.
I hope I'm wrong.

Since they started doing the simulcasts on ESPN3, I've had a sneaking suspicion that they'd downgrade even further, making the fights a complete joke, and make that their home. I don't think they'd ever get fully out of the sport, but that'd mark the next best thing to doing so. To be honest, I've been happy enough with the NBC Sports telecasts that I'd welcome them filling in the void left by ESPN, in fact I'd welcome ANY network filling in the gap at this point, since they'd be doing so with some enthusiasm. For quite some time, ESPN has acted like someone had a gun to their head and was making them cover boxing.

I think the answer really is in the FREE WebCasts. They could provide good shows, competeting with each other on a regular basis.
I think ESPN will linger...and I too like NBC, but the move by NBC to change the rules shows me that it will be a biz deal....

As the technology continues to improve, I think their going to gradually lean more toward ESPN3. I don't think they'll ever go strictly to ESPN3, but I can see an increasing reliance on it. t

The thing is....what we call internet today will just be Entertainment within three years so it won't really matter. What matters is the content.

Good point, it's been slow in coming, but I can definitely see the blending of technologies on the horizon. I don't know about three years, but yeah, the days when there's a big difference between ESPN 2 and ESPN 3 might be numbered.

I like the Luis Cruz-Casey Ramos fight that's the co-feature. Despite losing to Burgos, I think Cruz is one of the brighter lights in terms of Puerto Ricans looking to make their mark, and I've heard nothing but good things about Texas phenom Casey "The Wizard" Ramos, who's taking a big step up in class.
Coupled with the sizzling Jesse Vargas-Aaron Martinez Main Event, it makes me wonder if ESPN hadn't been matchmaking like this during the past season if it wouldn't have been the Dog that FNF 2012 proved to be.

Like I said....I wonder how much interest they really have in boxing. They COULD do well, but seem to keep it on the back burner. I mean less face it...joe & Teddy are long over-due to be replaced and their main guy is Rafeal....which is a joke. Get some new blood in there...or even add some and let it rip.

Agreed, they seem to want to maintain a presence in the sport, but based on their budget they don't want it to be a big one. They like to do all kinds of remotes and things from the superfights in Vegas, and it's like they keep FNF around just to keep their foot in the door. As for the announce team, Teddy is definitely running on fumes, but I've actually begun to appreciate Tessitore a little more. I think he's gotten better with Teddy doing less shows with him and he's paired with a fill-in, but maybe he just looks good compared to the other blow-by-blow guys who suck so bad (especially Lampley and the Colonel).
