Sergio Martinez put on a boxing lesson, but you had to admire the way Chavez hung in there and almost copied his Dad's "Meldrick Taylor Moment" in the 12th Round. JCC lost the fight but certainly won some fans.
As good as it was, it did however pale in comparison to the Rocky Martinez-Miguel Beltran fight that stole the show and IMO is the frontrunner for Fight of the Year. A rematch there is a MUST! The Macklin KO was short but impressive and we saw Rigondeaux have a couple shakey moments for the first time in his career. I thought overall it was a pretty decent PPV.

Great card...both were really... BC- My only regret is they went head-to-head and the weekend before and the weekend after were relatively weak boxing weekends. I wish the major promoters (and the networks) would work together and move beyond the "pissing contests", although at least with the Mexican Holiday, I could understand it a bit more in this case. |

I hear you for sure! On one hand it WAS cool to have so much going on for one weekend, but you are right, if the cost was a shit weekend before and one after...then it wasn't worth it. The bottom line is that GREED caused the two to go head to head to begin with...AND they BOTH would have been PPV if Paul Williams didn't crash his bike!

Paul's crash was indeed sad, but at least some small good came from it in that we didn't see a "double fleecing" of the boxing fan by having competing PPV's  |
