So for the past 10 years or so I have been a route driver ... a vendor so to speak ... I worked for Sara Lee out in Colorado putting bread in stores. It was my favorite job I have ever had. When I moved to Louisville for family reasons I tried to get on with Sara Lee but since I was with a franchise out in Colorado I struggled to get an interview.
I hooked on with Anderson News who put magazines in stores ... I was with them for 5 years before they went out of business in Feb of 2009 ...
Since then I have struggled with job hunting ... being 42 and a fat SOB ... I washed out of 5 or 6 route job interviews. I took part time jobs to pay the rent. Now finally after 15 months I have been hired with a bread company again ....
I start on Monday and will be bringing in a very good wage ...
Sorry to share but Kelly and I are in a celebratory mood .... cheers to all!!!

Congratulations Mike! I got a placement in a summer camp up in Pensylvania starting in late June for a few months, I can't wait. Same day I got confirmation for an interview at University to do a teacher training course which would commence in September after I get back from the states, so things are also looking up for me too Hope you enjoy your new one, Mike. Sounds like you deserve a good bit of luck.

Congrats, Mike. I hope that in addition to paying well, it also turns out to be every bit as enjoyable as the job you loved so much out in Colorado!!!!

Mike, I will be travelling after camp for a period of time! I can finally start to plan that. If I get anywhere near Kentucky I'll be sure to let you know, and that 10 pints could be a good plan!

first two days have totally kicked my ass ... 23 hours but I am loving it. For the first 6 to 8 weeks I am being trained and am an hourly employee. Everybody who runs a route is a distributor and self employed. So while I am training I pretty much get to do all the crap jobs. But the way I look at it is after the short 4 hours I work tomorrow I will be at 27 hours and after Thursday I will get two straight days of time & a half ... nice when we have been broke ass for 15 months now.
Will get to open our pool after all this summer! Is their an official Billy C bikini for my wife?
