After taking several weeks putting together a plan that I felt would be a win-win situation for the boxing fans, the promoters, the fighters and of course, me, I presented my idea, in depth, to 50 promoters on Monday, June 28. The promoters ranged from big names to the small, second or third timers. The Series is called Wednesday Night Fights WebCast Series. It would begin in July and feature fights on BillyCBoxing.com every other Wednesday night until February of 2011, in which it would increase to EVERY Wednesday night. In the plan, we would broadcast a fight LIVE on the date of the event and then RE-BROADCAST it on the Wednesday Night Fights Webcast Series.
In order to do it, I wanted to deal with promoters who would be willing to give us from one to four shows within a 12-month period. They would become Partners with the Series and would be promoted for EVERY event, not just theirs. It would cost them a SMALL membership fee of a few hundred dollars PER YEAR and travel costs if their location was not within a five-hour drive of Albany, NY. That is it! The other revenue would come from the Series' Sponsors, which I would obtain. The deal would also include the promotion of each event on the Talkin Boxing With Billy C radio program.
With all of that said, I am shocked to hear that so far, most do not want to even cover the membership fee. They all LOVE the idea, but do not want to invest in it. I even got one guy who had the BALLS to say how much he loved the idea, but feels I should pay HIM!
We do have a couple, but I needed at least ten to make it work the way we intend.
The question here is this....is it me or are these Promoters a bunch of fucken assholes?

Let's see.......these are shows they're likely putting on anyway (so it's really no added expense to them in terms of putting on cards, they'd be doing that anyway) and in return your going to broadcast it TWICE, Promote them on EVERY event and not just their own, and in return they pay a nominal yearly membership fee and not even travel expenses if it's within 300 miles of Central New York?
I just wanted to make sure I didn't misunderstand anything before I branded these guys small minded, shortsighted, cheap bastards. Yeah, I'm sure they probably DID love the idea of your doing their jobs for them for nothing, BC. Even as little as 10-15 years ago, this would've been a No Brainer on their part, wouldn't have thought twice about it, but that was back in the day when we had REAL Promoters. I'm not even going to tell you what I think of the guy who thought YOU should pay HIM to cover his fights, that's so f'd up that it defies imagination.

What is wrong with the promoters of today, are they just plain stupid.A cheap way to promote the show to thousand of listeners, and getting there show aired on the internet.Which in the long run would benifit boxing, putting more bums on seats as fans could see the quality of the shows the promoter puts on.Everyone is a winner in this situation, for f@*k sake get real promoters and stop running this sport as if you want to kill it off. BillyC dont give up on this as its a great way forward in getting boxing to the masses, and bring in new fans to the sport.

The truth is that this idea can REALLY help the smaller promoter. The big guys (ODLH, King, TR) don't need it....but the guy who does one or two a year because he has a few fighters under contract....man, I thought it would help them BIG time gain exposure not only for their company, but for the Fighter! If Johnny Smith is from East Bum F%&k and everyone from his town knows him is shown on this series to Small-Town USA...now when he goes to Small-Town, THEY know him, which helps HIS promoter get him more money because now they CAN REALLY say he WILL sell tickets..... We do have a few interested, but to be honest, not enough to get it done.
Feel free to spread the idea and the reaction all over the "boxing world"...maybe that will help. I have no idea at this point!

Its funny....the night it aired, I was watching the Mets and as soon as they LOST, I switched to it and it was at the scene, but it was not a clear shot...I saw it in the background, but I know the banner. It was blurred out....but then as the scene progressed, BAM...there it was and to me, it stuck out BIG time! I owe the crew dinner for getting it in...then it passed through the editing room, so it worked out. I got a lot of emails from people asking me if it was my banner on L & O!

I recorded it that night, even though I was watching, because I was figuring that I would have to look back to pick it out.....I'm not always the most obsevant person in the world But it was easy to pick out even if I hadn't known to be looking for it.

Don't forget....this Wednesday we kick off the WNF Ser! This should be good. The first one is a special. We took the top fights from prior broadcasts and are presenting them as a card and our first show. We will be back in two weeks with a new event. We are very excited about this project and have gotten some great reponse! I am sure everyone will like this weeks "montage"! All are GREAT fights!
