I know....I lived through it! I laugh at it today and how EVERYONE says how great he was, and even turn his antics as a positive! YES...he was GREAT and we may never get another like him....but man...even that is funny....how many times did he get his ass kicked and then GET the decision....I know I will forever remember Jimmy Young getting robbed in 1976 on ABC! Starting with Doug Jones and continuing to Young and Norton III, Ali got more than his fair share of gifts. Frazier II was another narrow one that went his way. One that would've gone down as maybe the biggest robbery of all was narrowly averted in the FIRST Norton fight. That's right, the Jaw breaklng Ass kicking almost went Ali's way (he got one Judge and was just a pt down on another). But as far as letting him get by with something? Let's just say that for 20 years, I watched him hold guys behind the neck and pull them into clinches, with the Refs never saying a word except for one. Carlos Padilla in the Thriller in Manila was slapping Ali's gloves away from Fraziers Neck.......and Ali looked at him like he was daring to slap the Pope or something

LOl...true...the Norton fights, especially the jaw-breaker....total gifts! Yeah, most people think Norton won that first fight Jawbreaker by a wide margin, but are shocked when you tell them that it was a split decision and that Norton had to wobble Ali in the last round to win on the decisive third card. Judges, especially in Ali's second career, were just mesmerized by his circling and tossing out some jabs. I don't think Ali lost a close round his entire career.
