It was a good night of boxing overall, with the Molina KO of Lundy on FNF, and also the Wilson fight on Telefutura (can't say much for Lara's opponent though) but I thought the real highlight was Shobox. Two exciting fights in Tyner-Smith and Mike Jones-Irving Garcia (while it lasted), and the commentary from Farhood and Tarver was clicking. I thought it was one of the better Shoboxs.

ShowTime is better overall, fights, production and commentary than HBO and ESPN COMBINED! I don't know about you, but ESPN has gotten so BAD, from ringside BS from Teddy and Joe T, to the studio with EITHER BK or ?? (the other guy) that I CAN'T watch it live, I DVR it and watch it at 5:00 AM Saturday so I can fast forward through EVERYTHING but the fights....and then hit the Mute button. As for HBO....well, we ALL have said before that the fights are 50-50 but the three stooges, no matter which three are there, have become PAINFUL to listen to. ShowTime....hands down....the best we have here in the States!

BC- I'm going to have to resort to that, the crap you get on ESPN as they try to "CRAM" 20 three minute Rounds into a TWO HOUR Broadcast is ridiculous. I love the addition of the little Music interludes they do before some of the commercial breaks. Why not, we've got all kinds of time to kill.
I know our new friend Lee Groves works with them and likes them, but Teddy and his Parrot on his shoulder Joe are unlistenable anymore. Getting rid of Bernstein for Atlas was the worst damn move FNF ever made, bringing in some talking hairdo to fawn all over him and agree with everything he says ranks Second. Speaking of Bernstein, remember when he used to do all this Studio Garbage from Ringside in a little five minute segment between fights called Ringside Report? Funny how he caught me up on the World of Boxing BETTER than listening to Kenney or his replacement blabber on with Hopkins, BJ Flores, or this week Matt Godfrey.

I like the ESPN studio ... I don't really mind Atlas and Tessitore ... I like Papa & Kellerman on HBO maybe better than any other broadcast team. I think Tarver is doing a fantastic job on Showtime

I agree with you murph....Mike...Mike...Mike....you NEVER cease to amaze me! You LIKE ESPN's Studio BS with Kenny and the rest of the stooges?? You LIKE HBO with Papa and Max?? I will give you this....Papa and Max are WAY better than Lampley and his crew, but still, WAY short of "good"! ShowTime is miles ahead!

I have always been a Max Kellerman fan ... I like Brian Kenny too as I used to listen to his talk radio show all the time. I thought Godfrey did a pretty good job in the studio.
I'm not a big fan of Showtime's A team although I like Bernstein ... Gus Johnson is the worst boxing commentator on any network ever so he ruins the whole thing for me.

I love Al...he is the BEST boxing Blow-by-blow guy in the sport...hands down. I agree about Gus....but I can't agree with you on BK...he is the most stuck-up ass in all of sports...aside from Jim Gray, who I wish would get hit by a falling anvil! As for Max...I like him and I think he knows his stuff, but he is too jacked up on whatever he is on! Its too much for me at times to listen to him! All in all...still, at least to me, ShowTime....is better than HBO and ESPN COMBINED!!!

You can't beat analysis by Johnny Nelson and Nicky Piper in the studio on Sky Sports Friday Fight Night in the UK

I said that SKY has a good team! I really don't get to listen to them as much...but for the U.S. Showtime!

I was kind of being sarcastic with my statement, but the Sky team just get on with it. There's no ego's and self centredness. But Johnny Nelson was a boring fighter (despite his nickname being "the entertainer") and Nicky Piper was only a Commonwealth champion and looks more like the kid who was bullied at school, its hardly a dynamic duo. We sometimes get Glen McCrory too on there. I don't mind Ian Darke and Jim Watt with the actual commentary though.

Some of the broadcasts I heard (and I can't tell you who they were!) were good. Honest opinons...and they seemed to tell it like it was, even if the home town guy was getting his arce (as you would say!) kicked! Glen McCory was a good fighter....I liked him.

Gus Johnson ruins any broadcast ... IMO he makes Showtime the worst station just by being on it ... what boxing doesn't need is an MMA announcer acting like every jab is the most exciting thing in the history of the sport ... HBO teams lack behind Showtime but there is no one on HBO even close to the league of crapiness that is Gus Johnson.

I agree about Gus, but if you take him out, ShowTime is VERY solid.

I said that SKY has a good team! I really don't get to listen to them as much...but for the U.S. Showtime! The only UK announcer I've ever had any problem with is Jim Watt, and that's mostly because I have a very hard tme with his thick accent. One thing that I've ALWAYS liked about Brit announce teams is their unswerving ability to ONLY focus on what's going on fifteen feet away, and not talking history or fights down the road.........or some kind of Shakespeare analogy like a certain HBO announcer
