This is kind of a strange quote from Glen Johnson out of a Maxboxing article from Steve Kim. He puts the blame on we fans (including himself in that group), and I'm not sure he doesn't have the situation exactly right. Two fights are better than one when the money's the same and your protecting your status. As Steve says at the end, "we created the monster".
On “The Main Event,” I asked Johnson, if it was an affront to his sensibilities as a blue-collar boxer that the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather- a lucrative match-up where both individuals stood to clear at least $35 million each- could not be consummated.
He said with a chuckle, "Yeah, certainly; I shake my head. But I don’t think it’s Pacquiao or Mayweather; I think it’s more Mayweather than anything else. I mean, Mayweather is a privileged guy; he don’t really have to fight for that money because he can fight a guy he knows he can beat for $20 million. He can fight two of those guys and still make that $40 million that we would like to see him make in that one fight.
"We have to know that we are the ones who make him so privileged and he has the right to ride it out. We are the boxing fans who put him where we are. And he has the right to now ride that out and do what he’s doing."
In other words, those who created and supported the monster now have to live with it.

LOL...he is a joke! and exactly what has PED Man faced since he moved up? Very limited fighters or guys who Mayweather already beat or guys who were destroyed by guys who Mayweather destroyed ... yawn ... it is too easy anymore

Hansen.... LOL...you don't get it man....fayweather is a fayweather. Manny IS in my p4p all-time top 15 NOW....Floyd is not in my top 25!
Murph....GREAT pc from MAX! I think Johnson is 100% right. WE DID IT...WE ALLOWED Fayweather to mock us and wave $100 bill in front of us, which is OUR money, and now we complain....I agree with Johnson and Steve....we (the fans...mostly guys like Hansen) did it and we are paying for it....sort of like our President!

Why because you want to hang on his PED shrunken balls ... once again he has fought exactly one fight since he moved up to 135 ... 1.
Mayweather gets credit for the same 1 fight since coming up from 135 ... you just can't see it because you can't get past Manny's huge PED bobblehead ... you seem to be hypnotized by the thick caveman brow and the constant bobbing.

I go by the best fighters fighting the best. I also go by innocent until proven guilty. There has never been proof that Pac used PED...that is FACT. You can't seem to accept that. Nonetheless, to me, and most others I speak to, feel that when all is said and done, Pac will go down as an all-time great based on who he fought and how the outcomes went. Fayweather will always be remembered as the guy who ducked the best. Case close Mike. NOW....IF and that is a BIG IF, down the road they can actually prove Manny cheated, well then I will be the first one to remove him from my list....but until someone PROVES it, I can only go by the results. Your boy is a fayweather. Now that, is fact too. You think what you want and I will think what I want. Lets leave it at that.

Pac is fighting the best? David Diaz, Josh Clottey, Antonio Margarito?? If that is the best then boxing is dead. Sorry Manny will always be remembered as the guy who passed up 40 Million because he was scared of a drug test. I can state things as fact also.
Old Sayings ... where there is smoke there is fire ... the third time you hear the same rumor then it is probably true ... all apply to Manny.
Let's see his head has grown 3 hat sizes ... he might be the only fighter in the history of boxing to have more power as he moves up in weight .... he comes from a known PED training gym ....
smoke smoke smoke fire .... the fact that he hasn't been caught just means he isn't being randomly tested ... hell Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds were never caught.
OJ Simpson wasn't caught murdering his ex either ...

hmm .. you must only be talking to Manny nuthuggers ... Maxim magazine posted the 20 biggest bitches in sports and Manny was there with the caption "just pee in the damn cup already" ....
Mayweather brings on a lot of hate ... despite what you might think I am not a big fan of his ... but I think the bullshit of blaming him for everything that is wrong in boxing is childish.
It takes two to sign a fight and Mayweather agreed to everything the first time until the villain in this, Bob Arum, threw out the 10$ million per pound fine bullshit when Floyd has never missed the 147 limit.
The only person who doesn't want this fight is Bob Arum .... it is so damn clear that it is hard to take anyone who doesn't see that seriously.
I think it is clear cut that Manny has taken something ... but it is sort of like baseball ... I think there are so many fighters using that it is hard to blame anyone for doing so. Floyd weighed the same as Manny at 16 years old so who is to say he hasn't used. Of course his power didn't increase as he got heavier but who knows.
Bob Arum is the bad guy in all this ... if he wasn't then Manny would be fighting Bradley, Alexander or Martinez instead of Margarito & Clottey ... you have to see that.
Arum only wants Manny to fight against fighters where he will earn 100% of the promoters fees ... he doesn't want the Mayweather fight which means nothing because he doesn't want the Bradley fight or the Alexander fight or the Williams fight or the Martinez fight ....
Seriously if you think OJ didn't kill his wife then you have had too many scotches my friend LOL

I think Mike has a case with Arum only wanting his fighters against each other.
But also both parties are to blame.
Floyd could have been trying to "clean the sport up" with his drug testing policies. But the way team Money went about it was one of accusation. If they had said "we respect Manny as a fighter, and as the top two names in the sport we want to lead the way into stricter drug testing...etc" rather than "Manny is on drugs, what he's doing is implausible" maybe they would have got there.
At the same time, if Manny is so keen to prove his worth and fight, how does a tiny blood test get in the way of Greatness and over $25mill??
I'm so pissed with all parties involved to be honest!

Manny said just TODAY that he wished Mayweather would take the November Date.....if that doesn't show that Manny isn't out of the loop on what's happening in the decisions that effect him, I don't know what does. I don't think Arum runs anything by him, and I think he'd also be surprised to discover how little attempt Arum made to sign the fight. When I heard that he was using clueless Greenburg as his cheif go-between, after he'd said all along he'd been negotiating directly, I don't know what else you need to know. Now Don King's going to get involved to help facilitate the process because King and Arum have a great record of working together? I remember all of TWICE they worked together. The Rumble in the Jungle when King was first starting (done under the auspicies of BADK Promotions, a joint venture) and then that "smooth" run up to the De La Hoya-Trinidad fight that took a mere four years to put together Yeah, Don will really clear the way here
