Shannon is the prime example 1990's HW waste of talent they were all good and either fell on their faces because they could not handle the spotlight pressure or just as soon as they tasted title glory forgot becoming the champion is not the hard part.....
Briggs, Botha, Grant, Morrisson, Mercer, Tua, Golota, Akinwande, McCall, Ruddock etc....Shame really......
A bit of Trivia Billy....
What do all mentioned have in common and at what point did all mentioned go from top caliber HWts with a future to also rans?

And you Sir claim first prize!!! (Though there really is no prize but if there was you would be the proud recipient of an item coveted by every boxing fan, journalist and collector the world round ) I know it was not a hard one to figure out but when ever I have the chance to bring up Lennox and his Superiority as an all time great heavyweight and Billy can read it I have no choice but to jump on the opportunity

I can't remember a Retired Champ who shot up so much in people's minds in such a short time into retirement. The very people that were bashing Lennox for oh so many years are the ones most singing his praises in this barren HW glut. Billy C. is only one of dozens of fans I've talked to that have upgraded LL.

Billy C. is only one of dozens of fans I've talked to that have upgraded LL. I actually did not become a LL fan un til the Holyfield robbery in their first outing....After that I took a look at they guy and realized that for all the trash he talks and for as cocky he is even after getting sparked by McCall he really was as good as he stated....It is not just my opp though.... I always throw LL in as digs to Billy though because we got into the debate the first time I met him at a card at Foxwoods even on the show we debated once....I don;t think he is the greatest HW of all time but he ranks in the top 5 IMO and it is hard to be a true fan of the sport and not put him as a top 10 HW of all time.... I do think though that he is the sports last great HW to date

IMO there is no difference between Wlad & Lennox ... both were the best in poor era's ... both had shaky chins ... both fixed most of their problems once Manny Steward took them in.

I agree Mike. I think people will look back after Wlad retires and appreciate just what he's done. Wlad for me, troubles any heavyweight in history.

I think there's a difference IMO. I think in terms of Lennox's chin troubles, Manny made him a much more offensive minded fighter, to not let up when he had the upperhand but instead to press the advantage. He's got Vlad to use his jab to keep distance, but he's been less succesful in getting him to attack when the opponent has been softened up, how many times have we heard him actually screaming at Vlad to go for the kill. The only time I remember him being like that with Lennox was in the Tyson fight when he was afraid LL might let Mike hang around too long.

The way I look at LL....now, aside from the respect I have or him for retiring and STAYING retired despite big $$$$ offers....is that HE basically changed the HW div. He was the first one to show us that a guy over 6'5" tall can come in, IN SHAPE, and display boxing skill. Prior to him we had some big guys...but none really fit that mold.

In a basketball parallel, it wasn't unlike Magic Johnson becoming the first 6 ft 8 guy known for his passing/ballhandling from the top of the key. Doing what until he came along, was a slightly smaller mans game. My question is whether this is permanent or is it just the case of LL and the K2's coming along in close proximity?

Like I have debated with you time again...Lennox could do it all....Fight tall on the outside, he could box safe, he could fight defensive yet he was a GREAT stalker and a GREAT finisher not too mention nhe had boxing know how..REAL boxing know how not a one dimensional fighter who had a style that worked with no plan B...Add power to his resume in which he had plenty of and Lennox was what everyone could ever ask for in a heavyweight champion.... I even loved the arrogant attitude that cost him 2 losses on his back because he came back to show the losses were him not doing his job and not McCall or Rahman actually beating him sound......YES LL is a name that you will one day HAVE to come to grips with when the great Heavyweights of the past are mentioned.....Foreman once said Lewis was the greatest heavyweight he had ever witnessed fight..... I should be ashamed how one comment from Billy makes me go on a Lewis rant ....BUT Im not
