Ofcourse, besides fighting Haye - Povetkin would have been a good challenge for Wlad. I think Teddy Atlas knows what he's doing and understands that Povetkin isn't quite ready yet....with a few more months under Teddy, watch out for Povetkin....he's got skills!

I think he may have been the best fight right now, but to be honest, I am not sure how good he will be....EVEN after Teddy thinks he is ready. Too stiff of a fighter.

Welcome to the Forum, Brad. Where I question Teddy is that he's been there a year and Povetkin has had only two meaningless fights with Javier Mora and Leo Nolan. I know he's working hard with him in the Gym, but you have to couple that with actual fights to progress. The other thing is that Teddy talks all the time about the importance Amatuer Experience, just other night he was looking at the flawed Shumenov and talking about hundreds of Amatuer fights) but those are OTHER peoples fighters. Presented with his OWN guy who has a Am record in Triple Didgits and Gold Medal, he talkes a slow down game. It's a bit hypocritical.
I DO THINK that Teddy wants whats best for Povetkin though, as evidenced by the fact he COULD just keep his mouth closed and collect 200 Grand by just letting it happen. But where I question things is this: Will Povetkin EVER be to the point where Teddy wants the Fight? I don't know that he'll ever be "ready" if it's left to Teddy.

Billy- I agree, I think he's too stiff and I also think that he's got the wrong personality to be working with an Atlas. Just the other night, just the way he answered the questons put to him (the manner of his voice) kind of signaled a lassez-faire attitude toward a title shot. Atlas needs a hardnosed guy who he can spur on and motivate, this guy here comes across as a Robot that I think is going to overload on information submited by the Programmer Atlas and simply be confused when the big test comes.

Robots respond to Roach....not Atlas! "Say Hello To the Nice People"........"Hello Nice Peoples" LOL!!! I don't know if you remember it, but this conversation reminds me of the old Twilight Zone Episode when Lee Marvin substituted for one of his Boxing Robots. P.S. Found this about that particular episode summay, and it looks like it might be being made into a movie staring Hugh Jackman (see bottom of article). Pretty hilarious that this outlawing of Boxing and limiting it to Robots was set to take place in 1974 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_(The_Twilight_Zone)

Billy C.- No problem, it's availabe on You Tube in Three Sections, which it appears I will have to put into three posts (I just tried in a multiple You Tube entry and only one appeared). So here is Part 1, followed by the other two parts in seperate posts:

I will have to watch that one too ... never seen it.
Povetkin doesn't move his head coming in ... Wlad would pick him apart and stop him late. I have never been overly impressed with him despite the hype he has gotten.

Mike- They seem to be working oky, but let me know if any of those three parts don't work for you, and I will post the URL's to watch on You Tube directly. I wonder how many times Dave Wilcox has watched it, he even remember the name of the Robot.....all I remembered was Lee Marvin
