So I am curious on the opp of you fellows here on Bute...Is he as good as the hype he is getting or not?
Personally I think he is the real final of the SS tourney, nwinner has to fight Bute THEN we will know who the best SMW in the world is...
Personally other then the first Andrade fight Bute has shown little weakness other then he fights home so often but then again it seems to be a trend with great 168lb fighters Calzaghe never wanted to go further then 75 feet from his back yard to fight...
I think Bute is the full package, he is fast, good footwork, can take a shot, has proven he can bang with bangers and finish guys off in impressive fashion when he wants...
I see him boxing Froch and Abraham silly...
Kessler has lost a big step so I don't put him as a threat...
Dirrell is not agressive enough though faster then Bute....
Ward is his biggest threat but for some reasopn I am not sold on him...
Any opps good or bad on Bute's place in the SMW division?
Like I said personally I think the tourney is more or less an opp to face Bute in the end

Ward vs. Bute is the only real SMW fight IMO ... I think everyone else in the SS has their limitations

Bute may be the best S MW out there Daxx. I think the winner of the six, will be Abraham...Ward will NOT win this thing, but even if he does, Bute beats them all. I agree, he is the real deal and the complete package!

I still think AA wins t6his one as well...TOOOOOO much being put on the Dirrell fight..People forget who AA is and what he is capable of

Abraham looked completely lost against Dirrell ... I think Ward beats him pretty easily also but thankfully we will probably get to see it.

Early on the speed for certain hurt AA he did look lost I agree....But AA is also known for just losing a big portion of the fights early then coming on like Superman...The second Dirrell found himself in a fight and not a boxing match he too the easy way out....The punch was not legal but still Dirrell played it up like violin music at a formal dinner .... AA is not a fighter who makes the same mistakes....A cocky one who may go into bouts a bit unprepared but still not a stupid one...He will use what happened in the Dirrell fight study the Kessler fight and make sure he is prepared for the Ward fight... At the end of it all though what nit boils down to is the winner getting a shot at the best SMW in the world...I don't think any of the 6 will look too Super against bute...In fact Green, Froch and Kessler all get one sided beatings and not one makes it out of the 8th...Just my opionion though

oh okay you are one of those that thinks Dirrell was faking ... that makes sense now ...
I think Green and Froch are mediocre ... Kessler is a bit past prime ... So I agree Bute handles them with ease. Dirrell and Ward are as fast as Bute but I think Bute has too much for Dirrell.
I think Abraham does okay against Bute but Bute is bigger, faster and more skilled than Abraham and I see a very one-sided decision.
I like Ward a lot and I think he has the best chance to beat Bute ... but I would still put my $$ on Bute.

Difference between faking and over dramtizing....EG=Nate Campbell and his cut with the Bradley fight...Nate came in out of shape realized the kid was too much for him that night seen a way to get out without a loss and took it...

thye both quit! I never thought Dirrell faked it....UNTIL I got word from HIS CAMP that he did. He was out of gas and was feeling "rocked by every shot" in the last TWO rounds of the fight! I will admit, I was caught off guard, but when I watched it again...had to agree.

When you look at Dirrell on the mat he even appears to be trying to keep his eyes closed...Almost like a kid who is supposed to be sleeping and you go in to check on him and he is trying to pretend... I take nothing away from what AA did he was wrong, I take nothing away from the fact Dirrell may have been stung a bit, but he went tooo far and should have left it at "I am dizzy and can not stand easily, cant see straight etc" ...something that did not look overboard BUT fact is in the end one of them hasw to face Bute and Lucian isn't going to look for a way out if he gasses and if AA lets Bute tee off the way Dirrell was able to early AA won't be around past 4

Shame Calzaghe never fought Bute. People only thought of Bute as just fighting at home and not a serious contender in the division. He has gone up alot in peoples estimations.

Yeah it is funny how Calzaghe who was the best 168lbr for yeard never strayed too far5 from home until his mlast few fights...Bute likes to stay at home...I think though it is more of a marketing thing for those guys though....The division was suck a lackluster one for sooo many years that no matter how good you were people had little interest...Now the 168lb division is stacked and there is money to be made anywhere....Hopefully he who has belts will travel

Yeah at the time Calzaghe was looking for final fights and Pavlik seemed like a biggie, people dismissed Bute as another Sven Ottke type boxer with a protected "0".
Still I don't think Calzaghe had the desire to step into the ring with a young, hungry fighter.

Yeah I agree, Calzaghe was looking to wind things down, Take his more or less grudge matches with Hopkins and Jones then look for the peaceful hills of Wales....I don't know about 2 years ago but right now if it was a matchup and I am using the Calzage at the time of his retirement against the Bute of now and Calzaghe would have had a sound embaressing loss...Even if it took place at home for him the Brit judges could not pad the cards enough......
Bute is no Ottke that much is for sure....I look for him to jump ship and head for 175 in the next 1 or 2 years...He is a decent size guy who could handle the weight easily...
Then again for all we know he could lose to Brinkley and fade off
