I have a funny feeling that Dawson is going to lose his 0 in this fight...In his last 2 outings he did not look as impressive against Johnson and tarver as he should have....I actually think the fact he has spentr the last 2+ years fighting the same men has hurt him....Knowingly there have been slim pickings in the LHW division and can't blame Dawson for what was there (Plus I think he had a mandatory rematch with Tarver that was unavoidable)....Maybe the change will bring out the talent in Dawson that had us all watching him who knows....These kids from up in the Conn area the last few years have faded quickly....
I think that Pascal has spent his time over the last 2 nyears more productivly and has gotten better since the Froch loss that he was really drained in that fight...
I ntake Pascal by UD

I thought Pascal did enough to win against Froch ... I think I agree 100% with you here ... If I were putting money down it would go on Pascal. Losing might make Dawson a better fighter.

Daxx....you are RIGHT! I am leaning towards Pascal in this fight. I have begun to think that Dawson is over-rated....especially after I spoke with one of the co-trainers he works with and he told me he has not really trained hard since the FIRST Tarver fight! Pascal will be in front of HIS fans...look for the upset.

I just have not been impressed with Dawson since his fight with Adamek.....Like I said something about those kids from up Conn way that have all associated with each other in the Amateurs...Dawson is going to fall into the same boat as Rivera and Oliver....Except Dawson had a bit more success due to weak divisions..
Someone said to me the other day about Dawson going to CW after this fight and facing Cunningham and I almost choked on my coffee.....
IMO Dawson has no hunger but Pascal does and that will be the difference...Dawson is content to sit on what he has done so far...Pascal is looking for bigger better things...Could be wrong Saturday will tell us

if billy c is picking Pascal, its a safe bet to go with Dawson In all seriosnes, I think Dawson will win a decision You know that seems the obvious choice and at first thats the direction I was headed almost withoutr putting thought into it but after looking at things like stated above I really would not be surprised if Dawson fell to Pascal the lingered into mediocreville...Especially since the LHW division is not really packed with too much excess of talent...He would beat a guy like Cloud on points, Shumenov and reclaim a belt but not the same status as a future great he once had...Hopefully I am wrong because Dawson is a good kid...He just has not really seemed to live up to his potential and has fallen into too much of his own press for his own good

I disagree that Dawson is overrated, what I think has happened is he's fallen into the rut that sometimes goes with being a "HBO Fighter". He's getting little 30 second promos on the network and all the attention for being the "next big thing" and his performances suffer from a "going through the motions" lack of hunger. When he fought the Johnson and Tarver rematches I saw a tenative man simply looking to keep what he's got, not make a statement.
I think Saturday Night, the thing working for Dawson will be the LOCATION. I know that sounds stupid, but faced with a good fighter like Jean Pascal and 16,000 Canadians screaming for his scalp, I think we're going to see a Chad Dawson with his Back against the wall and having to actually FIGHT. I expect to see the best Chad Dawson we've seen since Adamek.

You wrapped up what I what trying to say just a bit better perhaps in the sense of Chads career and how he has performed...like I said IMO fighting Tarver and Johnson for 2 years hurt him in the aspect of it is just the same old story he knows what he needs to do to KEEP the title he does not have to FIGHT to keep it so to speak... I don't dislike Dawson as a fighter and I am not hoping he loses...at the sdame time I like Pascal as well...It would be a shame if Dawson just fell apart and lost this one big.... Like I said this Saturday will tell us about the REAL Chad Dawson as a fighter

Daxx- I'm of the opinion that even though the Suits at HBO will disagree with me, Chad Dawson comes out better Win or Lose Saturday Night. Taking that fight, and especially on the Road, shows me something that I'm not seeing from his fellow undefeated Champions. I don't know what we'll find out with regard to the REAL Chad Dawson (as you put it) but I will say that just showing up Saturday in Montreal shows me Chad Dawson is a REAL fighter, not just a member of the Zero Brigade.

When I say the "Real" I mean it in the sense of we havce not seen what or how he reacts to the clinch situation...How he reactes in trouble...On the road...against adbersity,,,,possible needing to adjust in a bout against a stronger opponent.....We know how he performs against predictable opp who have little left in terms on tricks in Tarver and Johnson.....lIs the Dawson from the Adamek fight the best Dawson there is? If so GREAT becauser that was a damn good Dawson...I rate Adamek very high mayber higher then many and that was a tough tough fight....If he can duplicate such heart and determination then that will be the "REAL" Dawson....IMO it takles more then 1 gritty performance to define a fighter....Just as we all know 1 bad night can ruin a fighter

I'm picking Dawson in this one. He throws punches three minutes a round for 12 rounds while Pascal fights in spurts -- though those spurts are often spectacular. The key to the fight will be the first four rounds because that will determine whether the home crowd advantage will kick in.
And what a crowd advantage it will be, because the Bell Centre houses the loudest boxing crowd in North America. The volume is utterly ear-splitting. Pascal's promoter told me that Jean feeds off the crowd like few fighters have and if he can grab their attention early and ride the wave he could do something special. Conversely, it's Dawson's job to keep them quiet. I believe Chad's work rate and superior experience at the world class level will pull him through -- if the judging is fair.

Good assesment I think I am still going with Jean but what you posted sounds like it could happen and might.....I swear sometimes I get aniexty waiting for big fights....After 20 years of writing, working with fighters, being a fan of the sport for 30+ years I still get as hyped as when I first started....THESE type of fights with 2 young fighters who are hungry even though they have tasted world title glory is why I love boxing
