The referee will be Michael Griffin of Canada. The judges will be Jack Woodburn of Canada, John Keane of England and Gerald Dayton Ritter of Oklahoma in the United States. Well, I'm glad that Marlon B. Wright has the night off Griffin did a pretty good job with the Andrade-Lucas fight not that long ago, and also when they flew him over to Denmark to handle Kessler-Froch. Not sure about Woodburn, but John Keane of England is pretty solid (IMO). The Red Flag for me is actually not the Canadians, but questions I have about Ritter. I'm not sure about his Judging, but have had questions about his Referring in the past.

Well that doesnt seem too bad....I agree on Keane he has been a pretty decent judge from bouts I remember of his but he is mostly a UK judge and you usually see his name associated with BBBOC and commonworth title bouts....Ritter is decent....In fact I thought he judged Powell/Latimore closer then Sutherland who had it a blowout...Though he is not a judge with world experience he stays mostly in the midwest Griffin is a solid referee......Wonder how this trio and ref combo came about?

I'm not an expert, but as I understand it in most title fights they give a list of possible choices and each side has a set number of objections they can register, much like picking a Jury.
Gary Ritter is on my crap list for an ESPN fight he ref'd a couple weeks ago in Oklahoma involving Don George, a late blow that left an already beat up George simply limp and Ritter hesitating to call it a Night, and then a 2 pt penalty that I didn't think was warranted. But once again, that's as a Ref and not a Judge and it's only because it's recently been in my mind that I mention it.

Don George was getting beat up and took a devestating punch a split second after the Bell for the 7th Rd and fell into Ritter's arms, obviously unable to continue. Ritter took two pts for the blow, which was a bit harsh considering the split second nature of things, and then at least appeared to be willing to let the fight continue following a rest period for the foul. Like I say, it has nothing to do with him as a Judge, and to be honest I can't recall any previous problems that stand out. Hopefully, tommorow night will bring us a clear winner one way or the other without any problems.
