I was extremely disappointed in Teddy Atlas last night when late in the fight, he drew a parallel between Glen Johnson and Chris Arreola. First of all, I thought it sounded rehearsed, as if he'd worked on it the entire week since Cloud-Johnson, and WASN'T REALLY relating to the fight right in front of him, which had gone 10 Rounds already, and appeared just an excuse to give Teddy some "Face Time" on the Camera. Okay, Glen Johnson did put on 19 pounds after the weigh-in, but you could've mentioned that at another point in the broadcast without comparing a 41 year old Veteran that demands your respect with his 26 year old Tub of Goo that refuses to take the sport seriously. I think having Tennis cut into the Studio Time available for Teddy to start into this prepared peice in his mind, made him attempt to draw a VERY WEAK connection in order to get his Glen Johnson observation in ("very few people are talking about this", those were his exact words). At this point, Cloud-Johnson is week old news, nobody is talking about it in ANY Context, Teddy. Quit trying to impress us......and more importantly, don't tie a Glen Johnson in with a Chris Arreola to make a self serving point. You owe the Road Warrior an apology by linking him with Mr. Taco Stand. Btw, if Teddy REALLY wanted to give us a Story, then he could explain how Povetkin could fight an exhibition with Bruce Seldon when everybody knew Seldon had been suspended in IL for flunking his Oquendo Drug Test. I waited all night to hear him speak to THAT, especially since it was breaking news on the boxing sites on Thursday. It's like when he complains about everybody but HIS fighters taking on soft opposition

I had been saying that about teddy (only HIS fighters gets to have easy fights) for a while. Make no mistake, Teddy is just like everyone else in this business trying to make a buck. You need to be either a guy who reports, or a guy who is in it. He has no business talking about HIS stuff during FNF. What makes it worse is that ESPN endorses it...as if people are watching BECAUSE of Atlas and if that is the case (that ESPN thinks it) that sucks. Despite his knowledge, I hope fans tune in for the fights, not for Teddy Atlas.
BTW....I wish I had a $1 for everytime B-Hop said "at the end of the day". This is a guy who has lost it. He said the winner of Pascal-Dawson will DERSERVE A SHOT AT HIM...Really? I think B-Hop is way over-rated. When you back to when he was "good" he is STILL boring. I still think he should have ridden off into the sunset after Pavlik.....even I would have given him credit, but now....the man makes me ill. Speaking of which....I want to make sure I give kudos to Brian Kenny. In the past, I have cut him up, but after seeing the stooge they had in the studio with B-Hop....I missed BK!
As for the fight....Chris Arreola seemed done to me! Here is a guy that has truly sunk, or should I say stunk. He should have won within 4 rounds.....he struggles to a decision? PLEASE. I think he proved that ALL of us fell prey to him.

It's like when he complains about everybody but HIS fighters taking on soft opposition I gotta agree with you 100%...I mean to even mention GJ in the same breath as Arreola is an insult when comparing them as fighters.....GJ is a LEGEND one who earne3d his status the hard way...Yes we all know he came in 19lbs heavuer fight night...Shit it happens..Was it a disappointment? Ye because Johnson always comes in shape ready to fight but we don't know what might of happened that caused this....When did GJ ever come in out of shape and embaress himself in the past? I mean we are talking about a man with around 70 fights in his career where this man gave all he had each time out...Insteade of giving Glen shit or trying to use him as an excuse just to flap his gums Teddy should have been thanking GJ for all he has done in this sport and used him as the example on what Arreola should come into a fight like....... If anything he should have dogged Cloud who had such trouble with a 41 yr nold vet with 70 bouts that came min the poorest shape of his career....Many gave GJ the fight.....Disappointed in "Hollywood" Atlas last night for sure

Yeah what the hell is Hopkins thinking...after that embaressment against Jones Hopkins has zip to offer anyone....I am a Hopkins fan but now he spends his time faking butts and complaining about every little thing....I mean the guy bitches to the ref if his opp gets off the stool to start the first round.. I agree about Arreola...Did you see him after the fight!!!! He looked like he went in hard with someone of worth...Is it his conditioning or has he been mindfucked by ther Vitali beating and Adamek loss?

I think he proved that ALL of us fell prey to him. Billy- Teddy only speaks about HIS affairs when it serves HIM, and I really DO beleive the one reason he doesn't want Povetkin fighting for the title yet is LESS about his being ready than it is Teddy not wanting to risk the loss and what it would do to HIS (Teddys) reputation. I think it might be time for him and ESPN to part company. His Ego has run aground, and while I like his being outspoken and not being shy about taking a stand on certain issues, I don't know if someone less concerned with their own "star" might not be a better choice now. Teddy's been on the job too long I'm afraid. As for Hopikins, when I saw his Ass was our Studio Guest, I actually THANKED Tennis for sparring us that first 50 mins. , which as you know is ALWAYS loaded with jabbering. What a friggin' joke with that "waiting for the young guys to straighten things out". Chad Dawson did everything but BEG to fight him for NOTHING, and he insisted on fighting a shopworn legend who'd lost his last fight by first round TKO. Even Golden Boy Promotions doesn't have any interest in your tired old Ass returning to the Ring, get the message and realize no one cares and more importantly nobody is even listening. The only person at ESPN I value is the Matchmaker, who makes good fights on a shoestring budget that they give him, and Lee Groves hitting the Punch Stat. The rest of the bunch needs to take a reality pill and stop playing "Boxing Authority". As for Arreola, I thought it spoke volumes that after dropping Quezada twice in the 9th round and seeming to only need a small breeze to finish him off, he somehow managed to go out and LOSE the 10th Round to him. He's like the little kid that screams Wolf one to many times with his "now I'm taking Boxing Serious routine".

Daxx- Hopkins showed how much he lives in the past when he talked of his Glen Johnson win as if it was yesterday, it was a dozen years years ago........he never drew many fans even at his peak, but at least I respected him for being a fighting Champion. I don't even know what I would call him now, but I'm sure it wouldn't fall under Elder Statesman. JUST SHAMEFUL that he said those two guys were fighting for the right to face him, the WHOLE WORLD had moved on already, it's time he wakes up and smells the coffee, he's turning Hoylfield Relevent, with the exception that Evander is still fighting fights and not on the sidelines.

Hopkinsd was always his own worse enemy when it came to drawing fans,,,The shitty attitude steered people away, just like his lousy attitude at the negotiation table cost him tens of millions over the years, he has made the lions share of his money since going in with Golden Boy. I admit I was always a fan of Hopkins though, all business in the ring he WAS Today he is more dramatc then fighter...His last great performance was the Pavlik fight, I fear it may have been his last forever...He might not decide it is time to go until he ends up wining the percentage of fights Holyfield has the last 3 years....Hopkins had to mention the AJohnson win because Hopkins had tpo remind everyone that he beat the man that was being admired at the moment for all his toughness and grit...Hopkins is like a child and wants to be center of attention even when he has the camera right on his face

my favorite part was when Hopkins said that he was waiting for the LHW division to clear and someone to deserve a fight with him.
Not sure Atlas owes an apology ... it was a bad comparison but Johnson was out of shape and it showed when zero of his punches had any effect after the 2nd round. He was staggered more than once when we haven't seen him staggered in years and even the "so-called" dominating 9th round he threw punches so weak that Calzaghe called him slappy and they were only effective because Cloud took the round off.
That said Cloud, while clearly winning the fight, did struggle with an old out of shape fighter so I'm not sure that says much about him.
billy C is 100% correct that if Hopkins cared about his legacy he would have rode off into the sunset after the Pavlik fight ... he has $$ not sure why he still thinks he is relevant
