I don't see any poll but not sure how bad you think these guys are? You really think Lee can only be 50% correct? Thats insane.

Erik...there is no need to re-do this. Ask Murph man! The bottom line is if YOU like CB..fine. My point was that it is NOT fact...its opinion. If Lee, for example is a counter and he is GREAT and does a GREAT job defining punches, etc....but the other guy is not as good....what is the overall picture? The Poll was on BillyCBoxing.com and the LISTENERS voted 50%...me, I thought its arund 60%...some thought it was as high as 85% accurate. I think if you expand yourself beyond the message boards you too may see what we are talking about...then your comments and opinions will carry more weight. If you are saying people are way off...but don't even know what we are talking about...WTF?
Wait until I see you at IBHOF! AND...you better have the T-shirt on...

By listening to the show , posting and reading this forum and chatting with members I know enough to discuss this. 50% are you serious that is a slap in the face to anyone with a high school diploma. How can you only be correct on half the punches? My dog Pedro can be more accurate than 50% counting punches. It would be hard to miss that many even intentionally. I think you are way off on this. I think I outgrew the shirt can i get a XL or 2 XL this year please.

If Lee, for example is a counter and he is GREAT and does a GREAT job defining punches, etc....but the other guy is not as good....what is the overall picture? BC- One minor point on this, and in defense of the departed Lee, the CB is never in inexperienced hands. I know what your saying in that just like a Lie Detector, if you have a shitty operator who has been doing it for five mins, then his conclusions are garbage. It's all about the experience, it's an instrument that has to be used correctly. But with Compubox, we're only dealing with like four or five people that ever get their hands on the thing, Lee might be their least experienced operator and he's been doing it for like eight years. In that sense, I feel as though I have to come to their Defense, there's simply never going to be a point where a newbie is going to be at the helm. At least not in a ESPN or HBO fight. Now Showtime is using a new outfit, the ones that up till now are best known for putting the yardmarker lines on football games, so I don't trust Showtimes numbers for Shit right now! Either way, I think CB does much better than 60%, it's no harder to operate with four buttons per hand than any of the X-Box Games use. That being said, I think 95% is impossible, and even if Lee gets that then it's based on his rescoring himself, kind of like checking your own Take Home Exam I'm comfortable with my 85%, which is missing or mislabeling every sixth punch.......and no, unlike you suggested on yesterdays Show, I'm NOT a person that gets onto Airlines and simply trusts that my Pilot isn't Drunk

I can see both points to this arguement. I don't think its as high as 85% but also not as low as 50% either. Like billy says it is all down to OPINION. Veterans they maybe, but they still each have their own opinion on what consistutes a landed or blocked shot and what makes a power shot.

Boxing is based on opinions. We all have ours and they are all good. For me, once I found out that EVEN if a jab KO's or knocks down a fighter...it is STILL recorded as a jab and not a power punch...like the Morrison footage...the stats would have read one punch thrown, one landed, one jab...result one KO but no power shots thrown....HUH?
All in all....I vote for Pedro the Dog to be the next counter!
For the record...this was NEVER about Lee not being able to do his job. As a matter of fact, not knowing ANY of the other guys and if I were given the chance to pick a counter, I would pick Lee because I know he would do his best!
All I know is that after all of this....I could give a RATS ASS about Compu-box!

Well for every 1 fight that has a jab KO not counted as power punch I can name 1000 that don't. maybe 5000.

I remember Lennox Lewis floored Tommy Morrison with a jab.
I think it would be good if Compubox reviewed the fights afterwards so we got a much more accurate stat count.

While a slightly different system. The amateur judges in India for the Commonwealth Games recently (5 judges per fight) got it wrong time and again and they were only counting a punch landed.

Those Ancient Amateur Judges are HORRIBLE choices to use ANYTHING involving a touchpad. Scrap anything electronic and go back to the simple paper ballot only with better monitoring to element the political bias...that's what they SHOULD have done after Seoul, not THIS!!!! Bob Papa said it best in Beijing, "if this is what they want, then don't even have Amateur Judges, just go out and hire Teenager Gamers with fast reflexes". IMO, it's destroying amateur boxing, when was the last time you saw a Body Shot in the Ams? Enough said.

Tbh Dave, Amateur boxing now reminds me of 'fencing'. I wish it would go back to being boxing as it hardly relates to Pro boxing at all.

Sorry for bumping an old topic but the Angulo v Kirkland fight showed that the system DOESN'T work, how could they only see 70-odd shots from Angulo who throw comfortably over 100?

The bottom line is that LIVE on the fly can NOt be that accurate...but if they went back and RE DID it where they could stop and look...or take the human element out of it....it would be good. BUT...def not now!

What got me was that during the heat of the battle of Round 1, Clueless Jim Lampost was even concerned with Compu-box. It was a great fight/war going on, concentrate on that and not on the numeric gimmick that only those who can't see things for themselves have to rely on. I swear, if you transcribed the numbers the wrong way, he'd total believe them and report as such.......he's been doing this for 23 years now, you'd think he could think on his own.
