I went Froch to win (obviously ). Seriously, though. I don't think it will be easy for either guy. I think Ward probably starts as favourite. He's the skillster and Froch is the powerful boxer who has less skills. I don't think Froch is a bad boxer by any means though. Most fans i spoke to before the Abraham fight (especially Brits) all had Abraham decapitating Froch. How wrong they were. And some say Taylor outboxed Froch for 12 rounds. Well, a boxing bout lasts for 36 minutes maximum and not for 35 minutes and 45 seconds. Ward is a skillster and has also shown he can mix it up a bit like he did in his fight with Sakio Bika. Froch can also get into a scrap (Pascal, Kessler) or box clever (Abraham). I'm going Froch by points (probably split decision) and a knockdown might prove to be the key point in the fight. I hope Froch stays busy in this one. I think he might try to outbox Ward and that could be his downfall. Froch is a pretty decent boxer as he showed against Abraham and Johnson but he does take a lot of punches and Ward is more skillful. I hope Froch doesn't get lazy and just throws his punches flimsily like he sometimes does. He's going to need to be at his best. But the same can be said of Ward too. Whoever wins is my p4p ranked number 5 in the World just below Floyd, Marquez, Pacquiao and Martinez.

I remember I took the Ward-Kessler winner to win the whole thing back two years ago, although I believe I took Kessler by close decision at the time. I just didn't think Andre had the experience after just 20 fights, even though Kessler inactivity made me wonder if he could take advantage. But I do recall feeling that the winner there was in the Drivers Seat. To show you how long this thing has gone on, I don't believe I'd even started listening to Billy C. yet (although it was soon after).
Abraham was my 2nd choice, largely because I knew he'd have a walk-in-the-park with Taylor in the opener, and I really didn't think the eight-pounds would end up being the obstacle they proved to me for him. I gave Froch a slight chance and Andre Dirrell none-at-all other than the outside chance he MIGHT pull one upset over somebody based on just being a southpaw and quick.
It seems like a million-years-ago now.
I hope to get on after the fight Saturday Night.

A perfect performance by Ward...no doubt. I agree with you DaveMa...I loved the concept, but think the way they did the Bantamweights is the way to go...but all in all...lets do it again...maybe in the sorry ass Middleweight or HW divisions!

Agree, BC. It was simply too ambitious to tie up a half-dozen fighters for two year and expect things to go off like clockwork, the simple little four-man or eight-man single elimination tournament is the way to go.

The one GOOD thing about a 24 month tourney is that you KNOW the fighters involved ARE fighting the best out there! No BS match-ups! The end result is that the fighters get BETTER. I think Ward is 100% proof of that!

I think Ward is 100% proof of that! Absolutely. Even the worst (most meaningless) matchup that took place, which IMO was the two subs, Johnson beating up Green, was still not a horrible matchup like you would get if you let guys go searching out ESPN-level opponents, which within a two year period most guys will do at least once or twice.
