Billy C. was dead-on with his assessment of the WBA's announcement that they were thinking of going to a half-point scoring system, it's less about trying to clear up the scoring than it is separating themselves from their counterparts. On it's merits, the proposal SOUNDS GOOD, doesn't it? Let's look and see......
Beyond the razor-thin 10-9.5's that are the main advantage sited in the announcement, it also comes in handy for flash knockdowns when you can give a 10-8.5 instead of your standard 10-8. It seems perfect, but half-point systems have been tried before and aren't the magic solution, only DECENT JUDGES IN THE CHAIRS can solve the scoring woes. But the REAL point is they want to appear to be "doing the right thing" as opposed to their rivals, and as BC stated, it's just an advertisement to people to fight for their belt as opposed to others............I seriously doubt Gilberto Mendoza and his bunch care about getting decisions right as just simply appearing that they do.

but it's deeper Murph...the main problem is boxing is spidered in too many directions, champion, sub-champs, sanctioning bodies, etc, etc, etc....we at LEAST need one set of rules. BOXING NEEDS CONSISTENCY! That is the problem really. You are right...this issue is about about the WBA....like the computerized scoring system the WBC wants to use...then we will have some using same day weigh-ins and others not...all it is is an excuse when the fighter that is "supposed" to win doesn't.
boxing needs continuity and consistency...plain and simple.

Yeah, I see your point. I guess that's why you were talking about the "eleventh round" on the show, I kind of joined you late on that point. When the Orgs can't even agree on the most basic of things then it throws everything into chaos.
