Gabe Montoya reports that Lamont Peterson only registered a 3.77 to 1 ratio with his test for testosterone, which is under the 4-to-1 limit allowed by most States and well below the 6-to-1 ratio allowed in Nevada, but his problem lies more with his failure to report his taking medication on the forms that were submitted. If both he and Golden Boy Promotions had just done the simplest thing, submitting the paperwork, there wouldn't be a problem. Now he loses out on a major payday and faces the very real possibility of losing his title. Does a week ever go by when Golden Boy Promotions doesn't show it's naivety/inexperience? Why do the major screwups on minor points seem to affect them but not the more experienced Top Rank? Who's in charge over there besides Richard Schaeffer? They have more clerical screw ups and misunderstanding of the Rules than even your most novice promoter. They've got a Big League Outfit but the Bat Boys seem to be filling out the lineup and running practices.
True that Peterson doesn't fight for them, but he does fight on their cards and they seem to have been aware of the situation and so it's hard to have much sympathy when their cards consistently fall apart for nonsense like this.

What most people don't know is that Schaefer is NOT really a boxing person! His background is business banking....boxing needs boxing people!

What most people don't know is that Schaefer is NOT really a boxing person! His background is business banking....boxing needs boxing people! Yep, he was just a Swiss Investment Banker before joining Golden Boy, no connection to the Sport......and it shows. The original idea was for him to be just that, the business partner, and DLH calling the shots on the boxing end of things, but Oscar's life spun out of control, and after head-up-the-ass ideas like bringing in Hopkins, it fell on Schaeffer to cover for the lingerie-wearing absentee partner.

What most people don't know is that Schaefer is NOT really a boxing person! His background is business banking....boxing needs boxing people! You say this a lot, but I don't understand it. 1. What is the threshold for someone becoming a "boxing person"? 2. Haven't boxing people been screwing up the sport for decades? Isn't Don King "boxing people"? Isn't Bob Arum "boxing people"? How about Jose Suliaman? Surely they've crossed the threshold by now. 3. I've seen how a lot of boxers run through their money like they are the federal government, or how guys who own and train people in gyms barely live outside the poverty level. I think boxing needs smart people with integrity and of course some exposure and interest in the sport, but that's about it.

GREAT POINTS!
I only mean that the sport needs more people involved in the business end that actually have a background in the sport. Yes, Arum gets knocked a lot, but there are not many others willing to invest the money he does, as well as GBP.
What happens in boxing, is that because its easy to get into, many people think its easy to do, which is not the case. It actually FEEDS on the Wanna-Bees. In that respect they are good, but IMO, they do more harm.
For example...someone decides they want to be a promoter. Poof they are one and do a show. They loose a ton of money and quit. One and done. That is bad for the sport.

My problem with the ABC is that most of them are professional bureaucrats and while many mean well, they simply aren't practical thinkers that come from years of being involved in the actual business and not just the administrative end. As BC says, it's a business where the sharks feed on the wannabes, and it's those wannabes that provide the influx of "new cash" that SHOULD (under the right circumstances) be the thing that could help out the sport, but instead just lines the pockets of the shysters.
