I'm wonder what the going rate on a good "Yes Man" is today I don't know off hand but nest time I run into Kellerman I will ask ....HBO used to be a great team but little by little they are starting to fall into the turn the blind eye to what is really going on and say whatever possible to seel the house fighter...., You watch an HBO card then watch a Showtime card and the difference is amazing...Even Antonio Tarver is becoming a top notch announcer...With the occassional comment or two about a past foe but hell Foreman and Lennox have him beat by a mile in that catagory

Daxx- Yeah, it's like Night and Day between the two networks. The weak links at Showtime are actually the two blow by blow guys, Gus Johnson and Larry Menefee, and I've heard a LOT worse than them. But when I watch HBO, I'd give ANYHING to have one of the two old Pros Bernstein or Farhood to be at the Mic.

I dont get it nthought because these guys were a lot better then now...Almost as if they are being told by the network suits that they need to start selling these guys better

Back in days gone by, they actually HAD Boxing Superstars. They didn't need to tell us that a Hagler, Duran, Leonard, Hearns, etc. were Great, in fact we'd have thought them idiots for mentioning something that obvious to us. Now instead of waiting for the natural progression of things, they have to "create" the Stars.

Its time. Its time for Lampley and Merchant to go. I am not even that crazy about Max, but I would rather keep him for the next 10 years and never complain IF we could somehow get Lampley and Merchant to go bye bye. (from HBO that is.....I don't want any of my friends to get the wrong idea here!)

Gus Johnson is by far the worst boxing announcer on any of the networks that televise boxing ....

Gus Johnson is by far the worst boxing announcer on any of the networks that televise boxing .... I tend to not really expect much from my Blow by Blow Guys, Mike. Tessitore gets on my nerves for being a "Yes Man" for Teddy, but other than that it takes a LOT for one of them to get on my nerves. Gus Johnson is generic and a NBA guy more than boxing, as are Larry Menefee and to a lesser extent Bob Papa in that Football is their main sport. So his observations don't really bother me as much as they probably should. Now Lampley, my problem with him is that he stopped being a Blow by Blow guy several years ago, HE THINKS he's a Color Analyist, and when you've already GOT TWO of those with you, it really turns HBO WCB into a complete MESS!!!

I used to not like Slapsie Maxie, but I do like the team of Papa and and he as a two man team. I also love Al, Tarver and Farhood.

I cant remember his name, but he has slicked back hair and wears glasses. He makes Gus JOhnson sound like a stoner. This dude is comedy..you have to check him out...he sounds like a used car salesman on crack

Doesn't Gus Johnson do Strikeforce for Showtime? I never watch it, as I don't follow MMA, but I thought I did channel surf through there a time or two and recognized his voice, maybe I'm just thinking fo when he did it for CBS.

Well, not really, he's assigned by CBS to do the lowly Detroit Lions Games, and I don't know that that really qualifies as Football I know him mostly from doing NBA Games. I googled him, and in the last paragraph titled Current Roles, it does say something about him doing Strikeforce en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gus_Johnson_(sportscaster)
