I know we spoke of the PPV nonsense that is going on after the Tua/Barrett fight but csan you believe they are having Erik Morales next fight a PPV!!!!!!
Then getting killed with all these sites that offer PPV but the streams go down midway through or have 30 second delays and your paYING FOR THE BOUTS AS WELL!!!!
I am beginning to believe that there needs to bve some sort of group that is formed to decide on what quality of cards are deemed PPV worthy...At this rate even ESPN FNF are going to be PPV!!!

Its a sad reflection on how are beloved sport is being taken away from the masses, for promoters trying to milk the last few dollars out of the show.I subscribe to Sky Sports on which we get regular boxing,by the way we pay extra to have the sports channels. When a decent fight come about its on PPV even though we already pay for it in the first place. The cost is about $25 to $30 extra payment to watch it live, and if the bout is in the USA it comes on at 3am in the morning.I have reached the point that i will not pay out anymore ,and most likely many other boxing fans are turning away from the sport. Daxx while i am on my high horse at the moment, one of the things that really bugs me most is when i am at a live show you have sometimes two camera men getting in the bloody way.I complained once to Micky Duff about this and his reply the TV fee covered the cost of the show.So in a fit of temper i said so fu%k the paying customer he does not count then,he just nodded in agreement.BillyC did say the other day i was getting grouchy and i think he was correct in his assessment.

No my friend I have to agree with you on it...It has been burning my ass for a while now...I mean they just get worse and worse....Why is the UFC kicking Boxings as in the fan department? Because they show some love for the fans....They give bi-Monthly free shows on spike that are PPV worthy and their PPV cards usually are worth the money and cost less then boxings...Sad to say it but true

GREED is the reason.

I was disappointed with some of the Integrated Sports PPV offerings like we had last weekend with Calderon-Segura. It wasn't even available in some areas, and was kind of pricey at $39.95 (with a pretty sorry undercard to boot) for those who had the opportunity.
As a result, a fight that would have everyone talking about it had it been on a regular Cable Channel, was seen by probably less than a 100K people. I'm sure it cleared a profit, but it did so in obscurity.........and I'm sure the greedy bastards that put it on couldn't care less that most didn't see it. That's the sad part.

You know if they charged maybe in some areas where it was more difficult to get the broadcast to...Made the charges minimal at like 9.99 or even 29.99 I don't think that would be so bad...But c'mon lets be honest for the average household with this economy 49.99 or even 59.99 is a lot of money....A family could buy a decent amount of groceries or that could be gas money for 2 weeks for some.....When it comes down to what comes first a PPV or feeding dinner foe the family which is going to win out?
In a sense like that promoters in my guess hurt themselves. Yes Billy you are right it is GREED nothing more nothing less....They lose many customers in the long run that way especially with the SHITTY undercards.....They will always have people buys PPV's and certain cards will always do well but they could have so much more in the end if they were not so greedy.....
To touch on a past subject we will miss the King's and Arums if the years to come becfause for as many shit cards they have given nus these new guys are even worse

The business men that milk boxing for millions, are killing there own cash cow... Boxing! Why should boxing fans pay for crappy fights? Some fights shouldn't even be on cable TV, forget about PPV.

The business men that milk boxing for millions, are killing there own cash cow... Boxing! Why should boxing fans pay for crappy fights? Some fights shouldn't even be on cable TV, forget about PPV. Duane- The thing is, the number of PPV's you have to sell to turn a profit on most fights is relatively small. Something like this Calderon-Segura fight is an example. I'm kind of guessing that it did something in the neighborhood of 50K in terms of Buys (possibly more than that, I think that would be perhaps conservative for comparison sake)with it priced here at $39.95, then we're talking $2 Million, and for what really wasn't that well publicized an event. That's WAY more than a Showtime or HBO would be willing to cough up to show a Jr Flyweight fight. So what's that mean? Well, it means Integrated Sports, who I beleive was the broadcaster on that one, made out pretty well, the Promoter probably did well, the fighters did okay, and who got screwed? The Boxing fans got screwed TWICE IMO. This has nothing to do with it being a wonderful fight, which it ended up being. But a small segment of Boxing fans, many of them hispanic and many loyal to a fault when it comes to buying these time and time again, financed it because they were desperate to see it. The second group of fans that got screwed were those that didn't get to see it because the first group did. The Sport had a Fight of the Year Candidate watched by a few Thousand people, on one of the Cable Giants then it's seen by a Million or more, even on ESPN there's a weekly viewership in the neighborhood of 450 to 600 K each week. Do the people that put it on really care that they narrow the product exposure by rapping the hardcore fans that they prey on? I seriously doubt they lose any sleep.
