HBO has sunk deep. They are as bad to listen to as B-Hop. What we REALLY need now, and I honestly believe its time, is the TBN...TOTAL BOXING NETWORK. 24 hours per day, seven days per week of ONLY Boxing. My Cable Company gives me the MLB Channel, the NFL Channel, the NBA Channel, and there's a friggin' NHL Channel, Golf Channel, Tennis Channel, Speed Channel (24 hour auto racing coverage) and for christsakes there's even HRTV, 24 hour HORSE RACING Network. I think the problem would be filling in the holes between live events, you need to come up with programming and as Lee will tell you, the people that own fight film rights don't give them up as readily as do the Networks associated with the other sports I just mentioned. The very same people that see to it that our sport is the ONLY one that requires out of pocket expenses to view something BEYOND a subscription service fee, are exactly the ones that would see to it that a Boxing Channel, at least one that would be palatable, would never get off the ground. It's just plain sad.

I had to turn the sound off of the PPV after Merchant and Lamps were going on and on about how average Alvarez was while he was in the ring knocking out a tough chinned Baldomir ... instead of calling the action they were trying their best to tell us Canelo sucked.

Mike- I was elated that I found a feed that didn't have the HBO commentary, but it turned out to be a case of "be careful what you ask for" because during the main event, Dave Bontempo was so enthralled with Mora that I was getting ill......and I usually don't mind Bontempo.

Yeah it was hilarious ... Merchant and Lamps were going on and on about how Canelo was nothing special and how he would lose to any of the top 10 WW's or JWW's meanwhile Alvarez was in the ring landing 45 out of 60 power shots to take out Baldomir ....
It almost seemed as though they were told to badmouth GBP fighters ... maybe HBO wants out of their GBP contract after Greenburg's stunt with Arum.

Mike- Yeah, I also think HBO is finally catching a lot of flack now for being so heavily married to Golden Boy for so long (the Khan-Malinaggi situation and the questionable shifting of funds on the Undercard purses got a LOT of very Bad Press). NOW they're doing the exact opposite and going overboard THE OTHER DIRECTION. To downplay Alvarez, who after all is just 20 years old, kind of shows an agenda besides what they're seeing in the Ring. With HBO, it always seems to be one or the other, they're either hyping you out the A** or acting like your not worth a damn. Why does it have to be one or the other with them?
