Okay, let me start with this.
I like Mayweather, when he doesn't open his mouth. If I could only see and hear him, while he's in the ring ONLY! Then I would happy. I like Floyd the fighter, but he makes it hard to deffend him, when talks.
Moving on...
I don't see whats so contraversal. What Floyd did was legal, but not nice. But he doesn't get paid to be nice, he's a fighter, not a school teacher.
Let start at the begining...
1)Ortiz had Floyd against the rope... Throwing some good shots, kinda overpowering Floyd. THEN HE FREAKING LOST HIS MIND AND DID SOMETHING HELLA DUMB! He purposlly headbutt Floyd... Then said he was sorry (as if the head butt wasn't on purpose).
2)Joe Cortez took a point... Rightfully so.
3)Joe told them to continue at some point, either before or after Ortiz hugged and kissed Floyd. They touched gloves. Ortiz or Floyd stepped back, and Floyd threw a left hook. Ortiz looked at the ref, instead of protecting himself. Then Floyd hit him with the right hand.
4)Cortez stops the fight.
I think people hold Floyd to some high moral standard, but Floyd has always proved him self to be a A-Hole. The one thing I know about A-holes, is this... If you do something dirty to them, you better be ready for them to come after you. I see it as an Eye for an Eye. Ortiz got what he deserved, after all a nice guy wouldn't have headbutted another fighter anyway. I really don't sorry for Victor at all.
3 things 1) If the ref tells you to fight, then fight. 2)If you get hit, and you look at the ref, and doesn't do anything... THEN PROTECT YOURSELF! 3) The last thing the ref tells you is "protect yourself at all times".
Floyd is a jerk, but it was legal. This is boxing, not chess. Guys get punched, that's the way the game goes.
I don't see what's the big deal. If your gonna start some SH%$, you better be ready to finish that SH%$.
Ortiz is just as much to blame as Floyd on the dirty turn that fight took.

Duane...I agree with number 1, 2 & 3...HOWEVER...I personally did NOT hear Cortez say "continue". I'm not saying he did not say it....but what I saw was Cortez STILL looking to get the time from the time-keeper with the fight seemingly still "on hold". During those seconds, Ortiz and Mayweather did touch gloves and say stuff to each other and Ortiz glances over at Cortez like he was waiting to hear the "continue" command when Floyd nailed him. Was it legal...yes....because of the protect yourself at all times....but it also was a punk, thug act. No sportsmanship there my friend. Floyd showed his true colors. If you think it was OK...that's your call. For me...its not OK.
I want to add that what really bothers me was that to that point...I thought Floyd looked great...and he seemed to being getting warmed up and to me...looked like we were going to see more greatness...but to end it on that note...sick. I think his punk act actually prevented us from seeing what appeared to becoming a great fight.
AND him thanking God...seconds before he told Merchant he was a pc of shit....priceless BS from Floyd. The World would be a better place without Floyd Mayweather.

Not only did Cortez say to them "continue" but I have a video to prove it and I already emailed Billy C the video.
Listen, no matter what Floyd does in boxing he will be scrutinized by people who hate him (Billy C). Had he won the fight without any "controversy" he would still be criticized for bringing the kids into the ring, or his interview with old ass Merchant, or blamed for the US economy, etc etc...to be honest I am used to it and expect it.
Being a Floyd Mayweather fan is not easy but true fans stick with their fighters forever and I will stick with mine too. I could care less what the guy does outside the ring as long as he does his thing inside the ring.
People need to look in the mirror before judging others and stop looking up to athletes as role models. We want these guys to beat one another senseless and also be gentlemen? Most of the boxers come from the streets and this is all they know. Can you be a gentleman in this sport? sure! is it a requirement in order to be called good or great? No way!
Guys like Rios and Mayweather perform in the ring, who cares that they are assholes outside of it?
Billy C you give credit to Floyd in one breath and then your next sentence is he is a scum of the earth...yet you talk about him in every show. YOU keep Floyd relevant, which is exactly what he wants... ;D

You both made good points that I agree with
billyc It wasn't nice what Floyd did. I have no arguement there. BUT! IT WAS LEGAL, AND CLEARLY DONE IN RETALIATION TO A DIRTY MOVE ORTIZ DID. Is Floyd not human? Does he not have the human right to feel anger?
1 QUESTION: If it happened the othe way around (Floyd headbutting, and Victor retaliating), would you be jumping for joy right now?
George Jimenez You are so right, This fight didn't change anyones mind on Floyd at all.
I f you hated Floyd... Your gonna ignor what Victor did all together, and Demonize Floyd for retaliating. If the fight went all that way, your gonna call him boring.
If you Liked Floyd... Your gonna have no problem with this.
I like to think I'm in the middle... It wasn't nice, but as a real boxing fan I know the rules. If the ref tells you to fight... WELL GET YOUR HANDS UP, STOP TRYING TO HUG ANOTHER MAN AND FIGHT! I think this the headbutt, and all the hugging and kissing, then not deffending himself shows how mentally Victor is still a lil off. All that together just shows how they weren't on the same level.
Last thing: DID ANYONE FALL FOR THE HYPE AND REALLY THINK VICTOR WAS GONNA BEAT FLOYD ANYWAY? C'mon!! He was stratigectly picked to make Floyd look good. AS PROOF, ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS WATCH THE LAMONT PETTERSON FIGHT! If Vicor couldn't beat him..... Did anyone really think he could beat Floyd?... Really? I only wanna see Floyd fight 2 guys 1)MANNY 2)SERGIO, anything else would be a BS fight that they're gonna hype up again, and make money off us again.

I agree with George in that I had no problem with what Floyd did and also think that if it had been a fighter who didn't have Floyd's hatred then nobody would be saying anything about it. My only fault with Floyd the other night was his talking about it as being an outstanding KO punch, whereas it was simply catching a guy unexpectedly that was being foolish. We spent the better part of todays show talking about Floyd in other ways than what happened inside the Ring on Saturday Night. As I said when I called-in Saturday Night on the Post-Fight Show, Floyd likely cares very little about what we think of him as a person and in fact would Vomit if we ever cited him for sportsman-like behavior or having what we call Class.

To me ALL of you who think what Floyd did, and how he did it, was OK, then you are nuts. I accept your opinions, but maybe this is some of the problem with the sport.
If the shoe was on the other foot...I most CERTAINLY would have been saying the same stuff about Victor!!!! NO FIGHTER (even Ketchel) should be allowed to do that...or should any fan whether they like the fighter or not applaud that type of action.
I said it 100 times that Ortiz DID intentionally head butt Floyd. If I were the ref...he gets DQ'd right there. Intentionally head butting like that...launching yourself should NEVER be tolerated.
In a sport like boxing...sportsmanship is key. It HAS to be fellas.
With all of that said...to me...Ortiz should have been DQ'd by Cortez. Case closed. This was the FIRST part where Joe lost control. None of us should have to "search" for his continue command...there is a way it has to be done, which I will talk about on today's (Tues) show.
George......I will start a campaign called "By George" that will focus on kids and how we need to tell them NOT to look up to their favorite sports stars.
To me....this was another statement I just can't agree with AT ALL.
In pro sports...ANY of them...these superstars make superstar money. What comes with that is the fact that there WILL be kids looking up to them. I think they owe it to ALL fans...not just the kids, but to ALL fans who PAY for those superstar paychecks to set a good example. I DO think it comes with the job.
But that's me. I'm old and I don't know much.
Keep up the good work guys!

Okay... I know I'm beating a dead horse here. But I found the fight on youtube, so everybody can judge for themselves. There should be no question if Cortez told them to continue, cuz it's in this clip. There is should be know question if Ortiz had a chance to react and deffend himself, cuz you can watch it over and over like I did. But, don't take my word for.... Watch for yourself. It's there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVJh-VsgebU
