BoxingScene.com has been advised that Hatton Promotions and Lou DiBella have started conversations to match middleweights Andy Lee (27-1, 19KOs) and Martin Murray (23-0-1, 10KOs) on March 17th at New York's Madison Square Garden. If a deal is reached, the fight would become an HBO televised co-feature to Sergio Martinez's defense of the WBC Diamond title against Matthew Macklin.
Lee stayed busy in 2011; defeating unbeaten Craig McEwan, veteran Alex Bunema and avenging his only career defeat by winning a decision over Brian Vera. Murray, the Commonwealth/British champion, displayed his level of skill by fighting WBA champion Felix Sturm to a twelve round draw last week in Germany.
"What's better than an Irishman and a British boxer going to war on St. Patty's Day? I think it's a great fight," DiBella said.
