Good pont Daxx....I was a big Williams fan, but after his fight with Martinez, I felt he needed to come back in a big way...and he hasn't. ADD his lack of PR and that kind of goes with what Arum says about the other promoters who DON'T promote in terms of getting their fighter's names out there. He IS beatable, but needs to fight so we can see where he is really at. Good points!

The big boys are ducking Williams, but it has nothing to do with fear of him.
He is a stylistic nightmare for most guys and he he brings zero dollars to the table. The Williams camp holds him in a much higher regard than the Boxing public.
Personally, I'm a fan of Williams, but have been very dissapointed in how he has progressed in the last year or so. He might have missed his window for mega fights.

The Quintana loss was one where it could be written off as him being off for over a year and making the mistake of reading his own hype in the media....Then the loss to Martinez put the !!!! on how to beat him...YES I did say loss to Martinez because that was Sergios fight rightfully Williams can not deal with a mover what more is his power is not what it should be....I remember when he beat Margarito and someone from Williams camp likened him to Tommy Hearns in every aspect....I almost got sick!!!.....The only thing that the two of them share are height and shakey chin

Well put Dave...I agree 100% and that is why when I see guys say people are ducking Williams I don't even try to put it in that aspect because people tend to not understand the difference.....Not fighting a guy because of style has nothing to do with ducking...It is more of a business choice...I mean if you are trying to get your guy hyped up in the media for a major fight then you are not going to put him in a messy bout where he looks bad....That is why so many guys avoid South paws...not because they can not beat them but they are just messy fights.... They tend to make evgery bour look like Hopkins was in it

As I said in another thread I think Williams is very very overrated. The biggest mistake Pavlik made was fighting Martinez instead of Williams ...

Oh no, here we go again with Hansen........
Daxx....you are 100% correct....it's the tall and powerful aspect of Williams that people don't want a pc of....its not that he is un-beatable, as we saw with Martinez, who I thought did beat him, but it boils down to risk vs. reward...too much risk and not enough reward in fighting Williams.....

Williams has power! You don't think so? I think he just fights stupid sometimes.... Fights VERY STUPID! The guy is 6 foot something, and he leans in and always fights close, as if he was 5'6". But makes for an ineresting fight, when ever he gets a fight.

maybe if he became a completely different fighter and sat down on his punches maybe he might have power ... but he slaps just like Calzaghe always did.

Yeah, he gives up his height without being forced to, and I've grown tired of pointing out his Heavyweight like 82 inch reach and then having guys get comfortably inside it. He just don't use his physical advantages very well.

If Mayweather would man up he'd beat Manny and Williams and be well on the way to Greatness.

If Mayweather would man up he'd beat Manny and Williams and be well on the way to Greatness. I think he already acheived Greatness in his mind, and he's really just interested in Money now.

You said the right thing...in HIS mind! Not in mine....I judge on who a guy fought not all 0's. But that's me I guess.

Exactly gents in his own mind only. He's surrounded by his entourage of "yes" men. I don't particularly like Floyd Mayweather the person, but he is undeniably the most gifted boxer in a long long time and could be seen up there with Ali and the Sugar Ray's as the best of the best. Especially since over the last 4-5 years the welterweight division has been the most talented, had he dominated it he would have been there!
